Steve Gravett is a retired Air Force pilot, who went on to be a successful nightclub owner and real estate developer. Poison Pill in Paradise is his first book. His love of reading, and eventually writing, emanated from his days in the Air Force during the Cold War and Vietnam. He and his B-52 crewmembers spent seven straight days on alert living and working in a bomb shelter next to two B-52’s, cocked with nuclear weapons awaiting the claxon for World War III. It was during this solitude and time of reflection that he kept a personal notebook of his flying experiences. It was here where his writing and storytelling skills were born. After the war he returned to South Florida, his home for over forty years, to find an era of nightclubs and free spirit.
As a successful real estate developer, he acquired business friends along the way, many were attorneys. At the same time, South Florida newspapers were full of stories about drug smugglers and planes full of pot and cocaine. Astonishingly, many participants were lawyers, doctors, well healed businessmen and dangerous criminals. The mix was ripe for a story and Gravett began to mold a story that eventually became his first novel.
